Former Manchester and Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho has been tipped for a sensational return to the Premier League after parting ways with Italian side AS Roma on Tuesday.
The 60-year-old Portuguese manager joined the Serie A side in May 2021 and won the Europa Conference League in May 2022.
The former Real Madrid manager also guided the Italian club to the Europa League final last year, where they were defeated by Sevilla on penalties.
But they are five points off Serie A’s final Champions League qualifying spot and last week were knocked out of the Coppa Italia by city rivals Lazio.
Roma owners Dan and Ryan Friedkin thanked Mourinho for the passion and commitment he has shown managing the club.
“We would like to thank José on behalf of all of us at AS Roma for his passion and efforts since his arrival at the club,” a club statement reads.
Also, the Portuguese have been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge a move e many Chelsea fans will welcome. Despite spending over €1 billion in three transfer windows since Todd Boehly’s takeover in May 2022, Chelsea have struggled with form this season and fans are calling for the sack of Mauricio Pochettino.
Many fans believe Mourinho is the perfect manager to return Chelsea to winning form. The arrival of Mourinho at Stamford Bridge could attract the signing of Nigeria international Victor Osimhen who has been reportedly linked to the Premier League.
