Ijaw Nation Should Call High Chief Michael Johnny to Order to Curb His Desperate and Divisive Tendencies, Especially His Unprovoked Attack on the Management of NDDC
I have read with dismay the countless unprintable things that High Chief Michael Johnny has written and published against the management of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Ijaw Nation
His recent call on EFCC, ICPC, DSS, and other anti-graft and security agencies to investigate the NDDC management, particularly the Managing Director/CEO Chief Samuel Ogbuku, is a joke taken too far.
The Ijaw Nation and indeed the entire Niger Delta know Chief Michael Johnny as a very desperate and treacherous character whose insatiable quest for patronage has pitched him against countless public office holders, particularly his own Ijaw kinsmen, whom he always blackmails and scandalizes in his bid to get dirty and petty crumbs and peanuts.
It is a known fact that NDDC was a major source of concern to stakeholders and the great people of the Niger Delta region in general due to poor management and endemic corruption, but the story has changed over time owing to the visionary leadership of Chief Samuel Ogbuku, who has given the majority of critical stakeholders a high sense of belonging. He has completed thousands of abandoned projects that littered our towns and villages. The current management has embarked on massive projects that are creating unimaginable positive impacts on the people.
The results of the verifiable good works of Chief Samuel Ogbuku are evidenced in the large number of projects that NDDC under him commissioned for weeks and were widely publicized.
It is quite unfortunate that Michael Johnny and his cohorts are not happy that NDDC is no longer the cash cow that abandoned its primary mandate and concentrated on patronizing greedy and very selfish leaders like him who are not interested in the development of the region but are after their self-aggrandizement.
A serial failure and renowned blackmailer like Michael Johnny lacks the moral right to talk about Chief Samuel Ogbuku, who is carrying all sections and segments of the Ijaw Nation and the Niger Delta region in the scheme of things.
It is really sad that Chief Michael Johnny and his co-travelers are not happy that the current management of the NDDC has opened up the Commission to the extent that many sons and daughters of the Ijaw Nation and Niger Delta, including the poor, vulnerable, and downtrodden, now get contracts and other empowerments even without knowing any person to influence such opportunities since it is purely based on merit and competence.
The transparent processes in acquiring scholarships and empowerment programs in the Commission today are unprecedented. The management is receiving so much accolade because the processes prioritize the interests of the poor, vulnerable, and downtrodden.
The Ijaw Nation should call High Chief Michael Johnny to order. He needs to stop his shameful tradition of writing countless petitions and always attempting to pull down all Ijaw people in public offices.
Is it not sad and shameful that he does not see anything good in others, even when he is a renowned serial failure?
There is a need to discourage the senseless culture and tradition of always fighting and pulling down Ijaw people in public offices. Ijaws are not the only people that occupy public offices. It is not healthy that it is only Ijaws in public offices that suffer endless petitions and protests against them by their own people.
The actions of High Chief Michael Johnny, if not tamed, are capable of causing so much disunity and disaffection among Ijaws.
